Meet Luke Eve and Maria Albiñana!!

Luke Eve and Maria Albiñana will be VIP Guests and Panelists at the 2019 BNM Web Fest. They will participate in the panel: The State of the International Web Series Community Across the Globe- and how to Thrive and Compete from Anywhere!

ABOUT LUKE EVE:

Luke is a graduate of the Australian Film Television and Radio School. Soon after, he established his own production company, More Sauce, and went on to direct a number of short films including multi-award winner Cockroach, and Australian Summer, winner of Tropfest - the world’s largest short film festival. In 2010 he began directing television such as Dave in The LifeSEX: An Unnatural History and the landmark documentary series Great Southern Land which landed him an ADG nomination for best direction in a documentary TV series. In 2014 Luke created, produced and directed the online series, Low Life: A Black Comedy About Depression. It went on to win over 20 major festival awards and was sold to Amazon Prime and CanalPlay. In 2017 he completed directing and producing the follow up series, High Life which was Executive Produced by Stephen Fry. The series has won over 30 major awards including Best Digital Original at C21 Content London and was also nominated for an AACTA Award. It took out the Web Series World Cup for 2017 for being the most awarded and successful web series of the year. The series has sold to BBC3, Channel 9, CanalPlay and Fullscreen. Luke just completed production on his first feature film, I Met A Girl, starring Brenton Thwaites and Lily Sullivan. The film is scheduled for release in 2020.

Maria Albiñana

Maria Albiñana is a trilingual (English, Spanish and Catalan) actress, director and writer. She was born in Valencia, Spain. She is recognized for playing strong, deep emotional characters and being a fresh and unique performer. She has a strong theater background experience and has developed her career into TV, film, as well as in stage. As well as writing and directing, she co-founded and directs the web series section at Valencia International Film Festival.  Maria has worked in several successful productions like: “La Madre” nominated in Montreal Film Festival 2016 and selected for L´Atelier Cannes; “Donde el Olor del Mar no llega” selected for San Sebastian Film Festival 2010 or “M is for Malthusianism” directed by Ferran Brooks winner of Panavision´s New Filmmaker at Cannes 2012. In 2004, she won Best Actress in Comedy at LA Webfest with her lead role in the Spanish TV series "Sin Vida Propia", and has been twice nominated as Best Supporting Actress (New Jersey Webfest and Roma Web Awards) for her role as the president´s wife in "We All Wanted to Kill the President", released on Amazon Prime Spain in 2018. In 2008 she won Best Actress for the American production “Te echo de menos” . At a very young age she was already involved in performing and was very focused in classical ballet. She completed her MA Classical Ballet Degree and trained with the Joven Compañía de Alicia Alonso, among others. Soon after that she also completed her MA Acting Degree, Journalism Degree and recently became finalist at The Actors Studio in Los Angeles. Maria has continued her training as an actress at Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (London), HB Studio (NY), and the Actor´s Gang (LA).  In 2020, she will be shooting a feature film in Spain and two short form series: “iLove” and “Matar a Mamá”.
